Worksharing

To submit an application, you can log into HR self-service. To attach supporting documents, to view progress on an existing case, or to submit a manual application form, you can log into the case management system. Please note: only officers without HR self-service access may submit manual forms.

The process of applying for a worksharing arrangement is as follows: you must submit all workshare requests using HR self-service, and your manager will make a recommendation based on your request. The NSSO will email local HR about the request awaiting approval. Local HR must approve all work sharing requests. It may deny a request for worksharing even if the employee’s manager has recommended otherwise.

To allow time to process cases, please submit any requests at least six weeks before the planned start date.

The minimum period for worksharing arrangements is 12 months. After that time, the employee and their manager must formally review the arrangement, and at least every 12 months subsequently (or earlier if necessary). This review can be part of business planning for the following year, or at any other appropriate time. The review should consider the needs of the service and the employee’s personal responsibilities and obligations. Any change in hours will be by consent of local HR.

Got a question?

The rules for worksharing are covered in government circular 12/2013. If you need more information, you can also go to this page that has information on certain cases, or consult the employee how-to guide or the manager how-to guide.

To make a general query about annual leave or worksharing, or to submit a question, you can do so here. Enter your case management user ID and password, click the ‘add a case’ button and fill out the required fields.
